Abrasives can be bonded or coated. Although both bonded and coateda abrasives are used for sanding and/or grinding, they are manufactured in two completely different ways. Bonded abrasives are produced by mixing raw materials, which are then poured into a mold, pressed and fired at high temperatures. Coated abrasives are, on the other hand, produced by attaching abrasive grain on the flexible backing material (paper, cloth, etc.).
